《The Velvet Rope》專輯，首次進榜即登上告示牌專輯榜冠軍，1997年10月，專輯的首波主打單曲《Got 'til It's Gone》通過電台公開，在公告牌電台榜上最高排名12，這張單曲節選了一小段Joni Mitchell創作的名曲《Big Yellow Taxi》中的一小段旋律，並與饒舌歌手Q-Tip共同演唱，《Got 'til It's Gone》的音樂錄影帶也獲得了1997年葛萊美獎最佳短篇音樂錄影帶獎。
專輯的第二首單曲《Together Again》也取得了空前的成功，成為珍娜第八首告示牌單曲榜冠軍單曲，這一成績也使她和Elton John、Diana Ross和The Rolling Stones等傳奇音樂人打平記錄，專輯連續46周保持在美國單曲榜榜單之內，在英國單曲榜中也連續上榜了19周。出自專輯的另一首單曲《I Get Lonely》也打入了美國單曲榜Top3。
《The Velvet Rope》專輯在全球總共銷售量約1000萬張，而在美國則獲得了RIAA三白金的銷量認證。
