Don't think anyone questions Steph's value to the team, Durant is no doubt the better player (partly because of his unique physique) but Steph's range, accuracy and selfless off-the-ball movement is what makes him so dangerous. KD is arguably the greatest ISO player right now because his excellent shooting ability coupled with his size/length make it impossible for anyone to defend him 1v1 consistently throughout the game. But this makes an offense very predictable and if KD can't find his rhythm or doesn't play to his usual standard his team will inevitably lose. Steph's movement creates mismatches and spacing for everyone else, which is exploited by elite shooters like Klay or playmakers like Draymond and to a lesser extent Iggy. Steph's struggles stem from the fact that he is not athletically gifted size-wise, but put anyone else (even LeBron) in that position and the result would be the same.... |
