I don't understand why people said there was no offer higher than the $2.1 mils minimum salary? McGee obviously is worth more than that ($2.1 mils is nothing in this escalated salary era) even though he can only play 10~15 minutes per game effectively. The main reason McGee signed with the GSW is because he is simple minded and he likes the people, the place (Bay Area is probably the most pleasant place to live in the US in terms of climate), the ring, the positive publicity and the improved performances. His manager/mother probably were the one who expressed the disappointment at the $2.1 mils offer, but they put McGee's preference upfront so they had no choice but to take the lower offer. I am sure they got higher offers from other teams. McGee's money is carefully managed by his mother (he needs approval from his mother to buy big items such as a car) so he is OK even if he stops making money from now on. ...
