目前骨髓纖維化發生可以分為兩種,一種是原發性骨髓纖維化;另一種為繼發性骨髓纖維化,例如:真性紅血球增多症後的骨髓纖維化或血小板增多症後的骨髓纖維化。

台中市一名65歲男子多年健檢唯獨紅血球指數升高(紅血球變多),檢查發現脾臟已腫大,診斷為骨髓纖維化。
